PROBING

1. Starve animals at least 48 hours but no more than 72.
2. Place 15 Hydra in a 20 mL dish and add 15 mL HM.
3. Adapt Hydra to correct light intensity and wavelength for 6 hours.
4. Probe and immediately count discharged nematocysts (recommended 40x).

MAKING PROBES

1. Cut fishing line (4 lb).
2. Coat in Lysine (adds stickiness)
3. Dip 3 times in Jello.
4. Let dry between 30 minutes and 1 hour.
